Horses are herd animals and are gregarious in nature. They are social creatures that depend on interaction with one another. Sometimes people misinterpret that interaction as being negative or harmful. Horses have an innate need to have social order amongst themselves. When humans deny that social interaction unnatural behaviors occur.
